Kyrenia, CYPRUS

The main concept of the MediTERRA project is to design a settlement that produces rather than consumes, that defies time rather than getting old. The most important feature of the villages is that they are the smallest settlement units that are self-sufficient. The MEDITERRA project also aims to meet the organic fresh fruit and vegetable needs of the residences in the campus with the agricultural production on the main production axis and the orchards in the courtyards. The climate of Cyprus is suitable for providing this without causing a great burden on the site expenses with correct irrigation and maintenance. With the solar panels on the terraces, agricultural production, garbage separation practices, encouraging composting in the residences, and gray water systems, the right approach of the village phenomenon, which aims for a sustainable life, has been created in the city center for the city dwellers. A new life opportunity has been offered to those who want to be included in this life without being separated from the opportunities of the city and modern structures.
